Welcome to the soon to be siegelet for Dungeon Siege: ABSTRACTIONThis page is to let you know the teams progress and what sort of things that you will be seeing in it.
4/16/07 Updated the Beta Version. New file uploaded. Abstraction Beta V0.997. 7/29/06 Added some more maps and tools. 6/18/06 Added Witness's guides from SiegeNetwork added to the Tutorial and Guides section in Downloads. Witness's Guides from SiegeNetwork. 3/29/06 Added the Elys maps files for Ehb, UP, and LoA. 3/26/06 Updated the Beta Version. New file upload. Abstraction Beta V0.996. 3/12/06 Added some more files. Specifically the Elys mods. But not the maps for DS1 as they are too big to add. 2/9/06 Added several files to DS1, DS2, and tools. Work will start back up on Abstraction as well. There are newer files then that last beta but will do some more before updating the current file. 12/10/05 Updates to the download section, regular DS/DSLoA downloads. Listed Abstraction Beta there as well as the Kaishun Siegelet. 12/1/05 Beta version 0.995 is available to try. It is located here in the forums. 9/11/05 Beta is about done. Maybe 1 or 2 versions more, the next version should be the final version except for the second difficulty level. The second level will have the mobs with no cap limits to their size, whatever size you are they will be based off of it, meaning if you are a maxed out 150 character they should still be a challenge to fight. You can still sign up to be a Beta tester. Have added a couple DS2 mods in the Downloads section. 8/16/05 DS2 is out in stores now. 7/14/05 The Beta is being tested. We still have plenty of room for more people to sign up to be testers. 7/5/05 Looking for Beta testers. Sign up here. You will need to register at the forums and provide a bit of your computers info, what OS, cpu, video, and memory. There will be a section in the forums just for the tester group to report issues, bugs, and what you think is or isn't working. Though some of what isn't working may be set up that way. 5/27/05 This siegelet is getting very close to being completed. You may want to visit the forums soon as very shortly we will need some beta testers to help find anything we may have missed. I can guarantee there are a few things that you will most likely notice that I have not seen in DS before, you may notice a bit of randomness in a couple areas. There will be 2 levels, you will be able to reach the second level fairly easy, at the end of the sp game your main character should not be too far from being at the second level requirements. In sp you will have a choice of playing only the Sea Elf male or female as your main character, in mp you will have plenty of choices, personally I would play as some sort of elf, be it Sea Elf, Swamp Elf, or Regular Elf. Also there will be the standard LoA choices and also as the Snake Woman or as an Amazon. You should also go check out the DS2 Beta, I put a link to the DS2 Beta forums in the links page. Hopefully I will have another update in a couple days. 3/20/05 Progress has slowed down again, however, most everything is done. The main thing that is currently in progress is the quests. The story has mostly been completed, but the implementation of it in the quests needs to be completed. There are small balance issues that need to be done as well but nothing major, just tweaks here and there. A few little updates to this webpage have been done as well. Sad news - SiegeNetwork will be closing for posting in it's forums and there will be no more updates, other than the auto news feed, within 2 weeks. We would like to be done by then but with Monsoon out of town, for the most part, until after then that seems unlikely.
1/11/05 Progress has been moving along pretty quickly as of late. The map itself is basically done, most of what is left to be done is balancing, and adding the quests for sp and mp play. As of now the estimated time of completion should be in mid February. Hopefully this will not need to be pushed back any further. Also added a couple little mods to the download mods category. I have added the Male and Female Swamp Elves to the bestiary. There are other news updates but I haven't really added them here. There is more news in the forums or you can ask questions there. I have updated the male and female Swamp Elf pages in the bestiary, located in the screenshot page. Be sure to check that out. There may be a few other new things that will be added to the bestiary in the near future. Also there has been progress in the mapping and some other new tricks that have been added. Will comment on them more in upcoming news. No target date for release is set yet, but I would guess we should be close by mid fall.
Also I will note that you will need the LoA version of Dungeon Siege to be able to play this siegelet. That being said you will be able to bring in your own characters if you want to, mind you some mods you have may not work right, if you use mods. Any character you create in Abstraction will be able to be used in a regular LoA game, though if you use one of the new pc types you will have to have the Abstraction dsres file in place or you wont be able to play said character. There was a delay with the computer issues of our mapper. As of now Monsoon has taken over the mapping on the project, which incidentally the map is pretty much done. We do have a general story in place of which will start showing up on the Abstraction forums. There will be several new mobs and weapons, character choices, plus several new tricks you may not have seen done before in Dungeon Siege. Currently we are working on adding npc's and still working on some graphics, decorations, and the teams least favorite task, doing quests.
Abstraction will contain a new skill, the hand skill. It consists of fighting by hand and legs with stats earned at a new more balanced rate among the stats. There will be new player characters and monsters to fight. There will be 4 levels to play in mp. Regular,
Veteran, Elite, and Visionary. Or other. There will be a dsres and dsmap file, along with a start icon, and possibly instead it may come as just an exe file that includes an installer which will create the necessary folders and locations it needs to be in. There will not be a detailed readme, though also this is yet to be determined. As of right now the estimated completion time is mid fall. Overall size is not yet determined and will be in rar format for download, but the guess is at least a 60mb file will be the final product if it is just one level, if it is all 4 it will be much bigger. |
